INSPIRING DESTINATIONS WITHIN YOUR REACH
Nicknamed ‘The Hub’, Hastings was once a hub of activity as its prime location made it an excellent place to do business. Situated at the mouth of Rice Lake and the beginning of the Trent River, there are numerous opportunities to enjoy the water and the natural beauty that surrounds the Village of Hastings. Parks Canada employees can be found at the historic Lock 18 on the Trent Severn Waterway and our municipally-managed village marina offers boaters a great place to stay for the season or just spend the night.
The Trans Canada Trail works its way through the community and offers breathtaking views for those who choose to cycle, walk, or horseback ride the groomed trail to or from Peterborough. You can travel the rough trail to Campbellford via mountain bike or ATV.
Hastings won the title of ‘Ultimate Fishing Town Canada’ in 2012 and has the only bridge in Ontario where fishing is permitted. A spectacular spawning bed runs under the bridge and you can watch pickerel and perch navigate the waters in early spring. You’ll want to get a selfie taken with ‘Pisces Pete’, our giant metal pickerel sculpture.
Don’t miss our annual fireworks display on Canada Day, the Hastings Waterfront Festival in August, and in September, the Crooks Rapids Country Music Festival and Hastings Medieval Festival!
