Old Mill Park Kayaking rents single Clearwater kayaks to paddle the Trent-Severn Waterway between locks 11/12 and 13 in Campbellford. The rental season starts the second Monday in June (water levels permitting) and ends the second Sunday in September.
Advance reservations only. Click on “Book a Kayak Rental” to make your reservation and pay online.
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time to complete the waiver, rental agreement and required safety training.
The $35 rental fee includes:
- 90-minute rental of single kayak
- Fully accessible kayak launch
- PFDs (Personal Flotation Device or lifejacket), paddles and marine safety kit
- Information package with safety guidelines, rules and regulations
- Storage locker for personal items
Participant Rules and Regulations
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must complete a waiver of liability and kayak rental agreement form, signed in person prior to rental.
- Must have kayak paddling experience, able to swim, and have no medical conditions that would hinder swimming to shore*
- Must review the safety rules, procedures and tips prior to rental
- Must be knowledgeable about the basic safety rules for kayaking
- Must wear a PFD and whistle at all times.
- Alcohol or cannabis use prohibited for duration of rental. Avoid alcohol or cannabis use prior to kayaking.
- Only the participant that has rented the equipment is permitted to use the equipment. No pets or children are allowed on the equipment.
- If rental attendant has safety concerns and blows whistle three times, you must return to kayak dock. If you fail to return to the dock you will be charged the deposit fee.
- If you are unable to return to the dock, and it is NOT an emergency situation, you will be charged the deposit fee for a tow back to the dock.
- If Old Mill Park Kayak Rentals deems it unsafe to launch, a full refund will be issued, or another mutually agreed upon date will be provided.
- Participant will ensure that their weight does not exceed the maximum weight specifications for the kayak they are renting. Link to kayak specifications:
*If you are not sure you know how to paddle – DON’T GO. A full refund for the rental will be provided if you change your mind. Remember: when renting a kayak, you are confirming that you know how to paddle.

Safety Rules in Brief
- Know before you go: understand all rules and have knowledge sufficient to be safe in and on the water.
- Wear a PFD & whistle at all times. Carry a Marine Safety Kit (included with rental).
- Do not paddle south of the Old Mill Park Kayak Rentals launch (you will be charged the $100 deposit fee).
- Stay clear of the lock entrance and do not go through a lock (you will be charged the $100 deposit fee).
- Tell someone where you are going, when you’ll be back, and take your phone.
- Paddle with a partner, if possible, and stay close to shore.
- Know waterway conditions, such as weather, currents, wind direction, and undertows.
- Watch for changing conditions. Hear thunder? Get off the water. Emergency? Call 911. Use your whistle.

Equipment Rules
Know and obey all safety & equipment rules.
Check equipment before use to ensure it is in good condition. Do not use if there are safety issues.
You are financially responsible for returning equipment in the SAME CONDITION as received and ON TIME.
Late return – if weather changes, return equipment promptly.
Your Responsibilities for Equipment:
BEFORE YOU GO…
A universal adult sized SAE approved Personal Floatation Device, and Transport Canada legally required safety gear for daytime is provided with each kayak rental. You must use it appropriately at all times while on the water; and you must adhere to Transport Canada regulations for boating safety and equipment (available in the Transport Canada Safe Boating Guide).
Check the equipment before use to ensure it is in good working order, condition and repair . Note in writing to Old Mill Park Kayak Rentals any damage prior to taking possession of the equipment. Do not use equipment if there are any safety issues.
AFTER YOUR PADDLE…
Regarding damage or failure to return: you are responsible for all damage or loss to the equipment including major dings or breakage and have authorized Old Mill Park Kayak Rentals/Trent Hills Chamber of Commerce to process the credit card security authorization provided in full payment against rental charges and/or damages and/or failure to return items incurred in association with the rental and use of equipment. You are responsible for returning the equipment in the same condition as at the time of rental and have agreed to take financial responsibility for the repair or replacement (Old Mill Park Kayak Rentals/Trent Hills Chamber of Commerce ‘s discretion) of any equipment deemed by them to be damaged, stolen or lost.
Regarding late return: In the case you return items late (for any reason) you agree to pay Old Mill Park Kayak Rentals/Trent Hills Chamber of Commerce $15 for every 15-minute interval you are late arriving back at the kayak dock.
In taking receipt of equipment you have agreed to the above conditions.
